Donington Park Sunday 16th October 2016

It was Finals weekend at Donington for the BRSCC...as it was for the BRSCC at Silverstone too on the same weekend! A very nice position to be in for the BRSCC to hire 2 circuits to give all their portfolio of championships and series a conclusion to 2016 racing activities. After a period in the wilderness several years ago, I have to say that the the good old BRSCC have returned  to former glories which is fantastic to see. All we need now is for the BARC to up their game and improve then the club racing scene in the UK will be very strong. Caterhams and their many forms were the headline act for the weekend at Donington. I only attended on the Sunday of the 2-day meeting and Saturday had seen the first race in double-headers for all the Caterham championships plus a couple of Historic Racing Drivers Club races that were only out on Saturday. Silverstone Sat/Sun 23rd/24th May 2015

There was a lot of motorsport to chose from on Bank Holiday weekend but there was only one choice as far as I was concerned....Silverstone for the 2nd round of the Blancpain Endurance Series. The lure of a 60+ car entry of GT3 cars racing for 3 hours was far too good to miss. The GT3 category is one of motorsport's success stories in recent years and Silverstone saw an even bigger grid than the 1st round at Monza in April which only saw 58 start! A complex Balance of Performance regulation tries to ensure a degree of parity throughout the field which, although irks the purist, helps maintain Manufacturer interest and there were 11 different makes on show at Silverstone. The support categories were all making their only visit to UK soil too this was a rare "International" meeting. There was a race each day for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, Northern European Cup (NEC) Formula Renault and Auto GP. Strangely the Blancpain series leaves qualifying for the race until Sunda...

The Best & Worst of 2012

As the season is almost over I thought I'd do a best & worst list of 2012. Just a bit of fun in case lawyers are reading this.... The Best of 2012.... Meeting  Donington FIA Trucks, June 30/July1. Surprised myself when I thought about it. Motor Racing should be a spectacle and I have to say that the big rigs were fantastic over the weekend. All the support races were very good aswell. Race  Until 4.30 pm on Sunday 4th November I was going to say both Pick Up races on the Rockingham Oval on August 19th but I'm going with the Walter Hayes Final. A sense of drama rarely felt watching motor racing  these days. Circuit  Cadwell Park. I only went the once on May 27 for a 750MC meeting but wish it was 50 miles nearer to home. A fantastic track that retains some of the reasons for watching motor racing in the first place.Hardly any catch fencing and fantastic viewing.
