That's All Folks.....!

  The Spectator posts at last!! After giving it much thought, this will be the last ever post by myself...The Motor Racing Spectator will be updated no more sadly. It's been a losing battle over the the last few years to keep the blog regularly updated and I'm simply not going to as much racing as I used to plus the fact that when I do go, finding the time to update the blog, keeping it fresh, is becoming harder and harder to do. Indeed I can watch a humble clubbie live on YouTube these days and the blog has lost its immediacy that is required in the modern world. I started the blog in 2012 so it's fitting to end it 10 years later in 2022.  The world has changed in those 10 years and it's time to move on. Silverstone Sat/Sun 23rd/24th May 2015

There was a lot of motorsport to chose from on Bank Holiday weekend but there was only one choice as far as I was concerned....Silverstone for the 2nd round of the Blancpain Endurance Series. The lure of a 60+ car entry of GT3 cars racing for 3 hours was far too good to miss. The GT3 category is one of motorsport's success stories in recent years and Silverstone saw an even bigger grid than the 1st round at Monza in April which only saw 58 start! A complex Balance of Performance regulation tries to ensure a degree of parity throughout the field which, although irks the purist, helps maintain Manufacturer interest and there were 11 different makes on show at Silverstone. The support categories were all making their only visit to UK soil too this was a rare "International" meeting. There was a race each day for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, Northern European Cup (NEC) Formula Renault and Auto GP. Strangely the Blancpain series leaves qualifying for the race until Sunda...

Donington Park Sunday 14th August 2016

The latest meeting for The Spectator saw me at Donington for a MSVR organised meeting that saw 8 races on the Sunday of a 2-day meeting. My Meetings have been very sporadic in the Summer of 2016, indeed this was my first visit to my local circuit for a couple of months. Walking down the the Old Hairpin on Sunday morning I was shocked to see that where once stood the Donington Supporters Club enclosure is now a barren patch of grass!  A Sad Sight The Club had given notice that they were to be evicted and are now based in Hospitality suites near Redgate corner. However it was as though they had never existed as, despite the remnants of some paving slabs, the entire area the Club had worked so hard to maintain has been wiped off the face of the Earth. Rumours of a Grandstand being built on the Hollywood banking can only be the reason for the rather drastic action the Circuit management have taken.
